Sometimes you only have the weekend to getaway! So we have provided you with the local knowledge on how to best spend a weekend in each of the Wheatbelt Way towns!

Itinerary

Pack the car, grab some snacks and take a short 2.5hr drive (~205km from Perth) to the Wheatbelt town of Wyalkatchem. Arrive at your accommodation (there are a few options to choose from in Wyalkatchem!), get settled, and wander to the Wyalkatchem Pub for a refreshing drink and food after that drive. Hit the hay ready for an active day.

Head to Wylie News and Lotteries café is open for fresh Coffee and Brekkie. On request, they can make you a picnic or you can pop to the General Store and stock up on goodies for a day out and for breakfast items for tomorrow. Head to Korrelocking Reserve, home of Wyalkatchem’s wildflowers, and a nature walk to build up an appetite for that picnic lunch. Relax, read a book, snooze…. return to town and have a game of tennis on the local tennis courts or kick the footy on the large grass oval at the Recreation Centre. Otherwise after visiting Korrelocking take a short drive to Yorkrakine Rock. A gentle walk to the top will treat you to a magnificent sunset.

 

Return to the pub for your evening meal or visit the Wylie Roadhouse to get a serve of fish and chips for dinner. Koorda isn’t far away for the drive-in Movies (check dates on the website) or have a drink at the local Wyalkatchem Community Club- visitors are very welcome.

Take a wander along the walk trails at Korrelocking Reserve.

 

If you have planned ahead and booked the action seekers are off to West Moto Park for some Quad bike or motorbike off-roading. The CBH Agricultural Museum is also a must-see is open most weekends and will also open on request. Be transported back in time to the days of the Pioneers, the early machinery, the old pump station, and memorabilia from over the decades. Leave in time to stop somewhere on your way home for a Sunday lunch where you can catch up on each other’s Wylie photos and story swapping.

Make sure that you stop into the CBH and Agricultural Museum to be amazed at all the memorabilia and stories!
