If a more vertical bushwalk and extreme sports are your thing then a trip to Eaglestone Rock in the Wheatbelt is for you! Eaglestone Rock is located in the Shire of Nungarin along Lake Brown South Road approximately 20km north of Nungarin townsite next to Lake Brown a naturally occurring salt lake.
Patches of York Gum woodland abut the rock which has stands of red Kunzea pulchella adding patches of colour in late spring. Wedgetail eagles are often seen perched on the Rock. A good picnic area with toilets and camping facilities. Please note that Lake Brown is an intermittent salt lake and if water is present it is not suitable for drinking.
So head out to Nungarin on the Wheatbelt Way, from Perth Eaglestone Rock is approximately a 3 hour drive, head out to Dowerin, then on to Nungarin through Wyalkatchem and Trayning.
