With a full day ahead, you will want to start your morning early with your favourite hearty breakfast in the comfort of your accommodation or take advantage of the Camper Kitchen facilities.
Pack a picnic lunch, plenty of water and your camera and be sure to fuel up at the 24hr Card operated Fuel Station on Sutherland Street just left of the Park exit. Continuing East along the Nungarin/Wyalkatchem Road for 11kms you will arrive at the pioneer township of Kununoppin. The town—set in Salmon Gum woodland—features a series of tin sculptures. The sculptures are placed in various locations around the town.
Take a short tour around the townsite before heading to Billyacatting Hill Reserve, a nature lover’s paradise especially during wildflower season. Take the 2.4km walk trail that takes you up to the highest point with “meet the plants” signs along the way. Allow about two hours for the whole walk. Alternately, for a more leisurely stroll there is a 1.1km Woodland Walk Trail at the base of the Rock.
Back on the Billyacatting Road and continuing North for 1.7km turn left onto Sutton Road. Follow Sutton Road for 9.2 kms keep an eye for a pioneer Well on the left just past the elbow.
Turn left onto Kidd Road following it for 2.5kms until you reach the entry of Yarragin Rock. Walk to the top and place a rock on top of the Cairn. Take in the panoramic views and then enjoy a picnic lunch at the base of the rock.
Continuing West on Kidd Road 1.7km turn right onto the Kununoppin/ Mukinbudin Road and head North for 5.3km turn left onto Harrods Road. Travel 10.6km West on Harrods Road turning left onto the Bencubbin/Kellerberrin Road. Approximately 4.6kms on the left you will find the gnamma holes. Here are some of the largest gnamma’s in the District and also home of some Donkey Orchards in windflower season.
Continuing South along the Bencubbin/Kellerberrin Road 2.9kms and on right is the Trayning Historical Well. The Well was an important source of water on the road to the Goldfields for earlier settlers.
Continuing 6.5km South on the bitumen bringing you back into town after a day of exploring.
